The Mitchell
John Mitchell was a miner in Georgetown who had grown up in Cornwall, England. He was known as a Cornwall Jack. He traded a local man a set of matched mules in exchange for his daughter’s hand in marriage. John and his wife Martha had thirteen children and later owned farming property in the Mimbres Valley. Today there are many Mitchell descendants still living in and around the Mimbres Valley.
